Collembola Collection
Springtails (Collembola) are small arthropods that inhabit all terrestrial ecosystems.
The collection consists of springtail specimens preserved in 96% ethanol, as well as microscope slides mounted in Hoyer’s medium.
The material in the collection originates predominantly from Croatia and the Dinaric region and includes specimens collected from both cave and surface habitats.
The collection contains new, as yet undescribed species, as well as rare and endemic species and species recorded for the first time in the Croatian fauna.
The collection is used for morphological and genetic research on the systematics, phylogeography, and evolution of springtails.
