The collection of mineral paragenesis of the Trepča/Stari Trg mine
The collection of mineral paragenesis of the Trepča/Stari Trg mine (Kosovo) of the Croatian Natural History Museum consists of mineral specimens from one of the most important European lead and zinc mines.
It is unique for its beautiful crystal clusters – druses, not only of ore minerals galena and sphalerite, but also numerous others, in diverse combinations of the rich Trepčan paragenesis, which contains more than 80 mineral species.
The collection dates back to 1925 and is among the oldest collections of Trepča minerals in the world. In addition to its historical significance, it is of particular value because of its high level of museum curation and scientific study.
