Scale Insect Collection (Insecta: Hemiptera: Coccoidea)
In 2009, Dr. Tatjana Masten Milek donated the Scale Insect Collection (Insecta: Hemiptera: Coccoidea) to the Croatian Natural History Museum.
The collection consists of 72 specimens in the form of permanent microscope slides of scale insects.
The collection was assembled through faunistic research on scale insects conducted throughout Croatia between 2005 and 2007.
Surveys were carried out in all 21 counties at 256 different localities. A total of 709 plant material samples were collected through visual inspection, and 1,804 permanent microscope slides of scale insects were prepared.
Seventy-two different species of scale insects were identified on 212 host plant species belonging to 80 plant families.
Representative material of all 72 identified scale insect species was donated to the Croatian Natural History Museum.
