Perović Symphyta collection
The Perović Symphyta Collection comprises 7,506 dry-preserved specimens of sawflies (Insecta: Hymenoptera, Symphyta) collected by Mr. Franjo Perović, curator of the Croatian Natural History Museum, between 1973 and 2010.
The majority of the material originates from the Velebit mountain range, where 2,392 specimens were collected between 1977 and 2005, although the collection also includes material from many other parts of Croatia and the Balkans.
The collection is of an open type and is continuously being expanded through the work of curator Mirna Klaić.
Ongoing research based on this material will result in a doctoral dissertation entitled Biodiversity and Distribution of Sawflies (Insecta, Hymenoptera, Symphyta) of the Velebit Mountain Range.
