Preliminary Trip Plan

  • 10:00 — gathering at the entrance to Grabovača Cave Park
  • 10:00 – 11:30 — tour of Samograd Cave
  • 11:30 – 15:00 — tour of the educational trails “In the Footsteps of Mirko Malez” and “Man and Karst”
  • 15:00 – 17:00 — time for rest and lunch in the Cave Park or in the canyon of the Lika River, depending on weather conditions
  • Around 17:00 — return home

Costs

Ticket for Samograd Cave:

  • Adults: HRK 40
  • Children aged 6–18: HRK 25
  • Children up to 5 years: free of charge

Recommended Equipment

  • Clothing for the cave: The temperature in the cave is 8°C, so warmer, layered clothing is recommended. The cave tour lasts around 1 to 1.5 hours.
  • Footwear: comfortable high or low hiking shoes, or outdoor trainers
  • Umbrella and raincoat: or other rainwear, in case of a rainy weather forecast
  • Flashlight: optional, not required. A headlamp or handheld flashlight is best. The cave is arranged for tourist visits and illuminated, so personal lighting is not necessary, but it may enhance the cave experience.
  • Food and water: food cannot be purchased in the Cave Park, so participants are advised to bring everything with them.

Access from Zagreb

From Zagreb, take the motorway towards Split. After about two hours of driving, exit at Perušić, the exit before Gospić. Continue following the signs for Samograd and for Grabovača Cave Park. The park is located about 2.5 km from the centre of Perušić.
