Educational Trip: Paklenica National Park
Preliminary Trip Plan
Saturday, 3 October 2020
- 10:00 — gathering in Starigrad, at the Paklenica National Park Administration building, with transport by private cars
- 10:00 – 11:00 — introductory talk and drive by car along the mountain road to Veliko Rujno
- 11:00 – 18:00 — hiking ascent to Bojin kuk, lunch break in nature, and descent back to the cars
- 18:00 – 19:00 — return by car to Starigrad
- 19:00 — accommodation and dinner
Sunday, 4 October 2020
- 9:00 – 13:00 — tour of the Velika Paklenica canyon
- 13:00 – 14:00 — lunch in nature or at the mountain lodge
- 14:00 – 16:00 — optional sport climbing for children and adults, with the possibility of renting equipment and climbing with instructors
- 16:00 – 18:00 — tour of the educational trails
- 18:00 — return home
Notes
- Participants should bring suitable footwear, such as hiking boots or outdoor trainers, and layered clothing appropriate for the weather forecast. It is also recommended to bring rainwear and an umbrella.
- The hiking pace will be light and adapted to the abilities of the group, including children and older participants.
- In the very upper section of Bojin kuk, where the trail passes through rocky slopes, we will reach the summit by the easier route with one short cable section. We will not take the more difficult ascent route with long steep cable sections.
- Transport and accommodation are arranged independently by participants.
