The Croatian Natural History Museum invites you to an educational trip on Saturday, 3 October:
Skrad – Zeleni vir – Vražji prolaz Canyon – Muževa hiža Cave
The trip includes around five hours of light hiking, with visits to geological features such as sedimentary rocks, faults, folds, karst springs, a canyon, and Muževa hiža Cave.
Trip Plan
- Travel by private transport to Skrad. We recommend departing from Zagreb around 8:00 a.m.
- 10:00 — gathering at the railway station in Skrad
- 10:00 – 12:00 — walk along the hiking trail to the Zeleni vir cave spring and the Zeleni vir hydroelectric power plant, with interpretation of geological and botanical features
- 12:00 – 13:30 — rest and refreshment break. Food and water should be brought along, as the mountain lodge is unfortunately closed.
- 13:30 – 14:00 — hike through Vražji prolaz, with interpretation of geological and botanical features
- 14:00 – 14:30 — tour of Muževa hiža Cave
- 14:30 – 16:30 — hike back to Skrad railway station, end of the trip
Notes
- Ticket price for the Zeleni vir and Vražji prolaz geomorphological reserve: HRK 15.
- Participants should bring suitable footwear, such as hiking boots or sturdy trainers, and layered clothing appropriate for the weather forecast. It is also recommended to bring rainwear and an umbrella.
- For the visit to Muževa hiža Cave, participants should bring their own lighting.
- Food and water for lunch should be brought along, as the Zeleni vir mountain lodge is closed.
