AMADEO STAGE 2026 – A SUMMER OF OUTSTANDING MUSIC IN ZAGREB
AMADEO STAGE 2026 – A SUMMER OF OUTSTANDING MUSIC IN ZAGREB
From 22–31 July and 29 August–13 September, the Croatian Natural History Museum hosts the 27th edition of the Amadeo Summer Stage.
One of Zagreb’s most distinguished summer music festivals returns to the city’s historic Upper Town with an exceptional programme featuring acclaimed Croatian and international artists.
This year’s festival opens with “Arsen – Between Music and Poetry”, a tribute to legendary Croatian singer-songwriter Arsen Dedić. The evening brings together the Zagreb Soloists, presenting fresh arrangements of Dedić’s songs, and actor Goran Matović, who performs the poetry recital “I Never Got to Tell You”, creating a unique blend of music, poetry and remembrance.
The opening festival week also features a wide variety of musical styles and ensembles, including the Gelius Trio, whose programme combines classical music, tango and jazz; an evening of Brazilian bossa nova performed by Amália Baraona and Vitor Garbelotto, joined by guests Kristijan Beluhan and Kruno Bakota; and Scotland’s Auld Reekie String Band, offering a vibrant interpretation of traditional American and British Isles folk music.
Other highlights include Filmmusicorkestar, celebrating its tenth anniversary with imaginative new interpretations of iconic film music; Trio Elogio, presenting works by John Dowland and Manuel de Falla; pianist Viktor Čižić in a recital dedicated to George Gershwin; the Rucner Quartet, performing works by Croatian composers alongside the world premiere of a new composition by Marijan Makar; and the Lovre Marušić Trio, featuring music by Johannes Brahms, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Dora Pejačević.
Following a short summer break, the festival resumes from 29 August to 13 September, once again bringing together diverse musical traditions and artistic expressions. The programme includes guitarist Miroslav Tadić and his solo recital “Što te nema” (I Miss You), Duo Dhatu juxtaposing the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and Astor Piazzolla, and “Kadarsekvenca”, an interdisciplinary project by Filip Šovagović that merges theatre, music and video art.
September’s programme also features guitarist Srđan Bulat and mezzo-soprano Sophie Agten performing Spanish and Latin American repertoire, pianist Aljoša Jurinić with works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Robert Schumann, Claude Debussy and Frédéric Chopin, and an evening of Mexican music with Mariachi Los Caballeros. The Zagreb Klezmer Quintet explores the rich intersections of klezmer, jazz and Middle Eastern influences, while Homage Collective presents new arrangements of music by celebrated Croatian composer Alfi Kabiljo.
The festival concludes with a series of outstanding chamber and interdisciplinary performances: pianist Martina Filjak and cellist Monika Leskovar perform works by Arvo Pärt, Schumann, Brahms and Piazzolla; accordionist Merima Ključo and visual artist Tisja Kljaković-Brajić present the multimedia performance “U malu je uša đava”; and the closing concert, “This Train – A Railway Without Borders”, brings together Miroslav Tadić and Yvette Holzwarth in a musical journey that transcends genres and borders.
The 27th Amadeo Summer Stage takes place in two programme segments, from 22–31 July and 29 August–13 September 2026, at the Croatian Natural History Museum in Zagreb.
All performances begin in the evening. Seating is limited. Tickets are available at the museum box office from 6:00 pm on the day of each performance, as well as online.
