The exhibition by academic printmaker Vida Meić explores the motifs of
sedimentation, matter and traces of time through prints, objects and artist’s books.
About the exhibition
The exhibition “Sediments” by academic printmaker Vida Meić is
held as part of the 24th season of Scena AMADEO, organized by Scena AMADEO and
the Croatian Natural History Museum.
It continues the long-standing cycle of exhibitions dedicated to the prematurely
deceased artist Izabela Šimunović, presenting contemporary Croatian artists
inspired by natural history themes.
Sediments as traces of time
Starting from an interest in structure, matter and traces of time, Vida Meić
explores the motif of sedimentation in her new cycle as a metaphor for
transience, memory and change.
Deposits become symbols of hidden layers of the past, but also of processes
that shape our perception of space and time.
The visible and the hidden
As art historian Feđa Gavrilović points out, the poetic quality and sensitivity
of the works encourage reflection on sedimentation as a physical trace of the
passage of time.
Through prints, objects and artist’s books, the artist explores the relationship
between the visible and the hidden, the past and the present.
About the artist
Vida Meić was born in Čakovec in 1991. She graduated in printmaking from the
Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, in the class of Professor Ines Krasić, with
the distinction Summa Cum Laude.
She has received numerous awards for her artistic work, including the Erste Grand
Prix, the Award of the Print Collection of the National and University Library,
and the Museum of Contemporary Art Award.
Today, she works as an assistant at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb.
