The Old World
MANUELA PAUK – THE OLD WORLD
On Friday, 18 September 2020, at 8:30 p.m., the solo exhibition “The Old World” by Manuela Pauk opened at Nest Gallery.
The exhibition marked the final event of the 2020 Scena Amadeo programme. For the past decade, Scena Amadeo has organised summer exhibitions inspired by natural history themes in honour of the late painter and printmaker Izabela Šimunović. Due to earthquake damage to the building of the Croatian Natural History Museum, this year’s exhibition was relocated to Nest Gallery.
The exhibition features works created over the previous year, including several sculptures—among them Adwaita the tortoise and an African snail—as well as a site-specific installation. All of the exhibited works are connected through a shared thematic concept exploring the relationship between humanity, nature, and time.
