WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN: What is phenology?
Phenology is the science that studies the stages of plant development (leafing, flowering, fruit development, leaf fall, etc.) and animal life cycles (e.g. mating, egg laying and development, larvae, pupae, adult insects), depending on the seasons.
PROCEDURE:
- Choose a tree you will observe
- Mark a branch that you will monitor
- Count the leaves on it, starting from the top, and record them in a tracking table
- Measure the length of each leaf (from base to tip, without the petiole) and record it in the table
- Repeat observations every second day
Using the GrowApp application, you can create an animation of changes in your garden 😊
https://www.growapp.today/#/
The app allows users to create animations of trees, gardens, and landscapes by taking photos with a smartphone. It transforms images into a time-lapse showing seasonal and long-term changes. In this way, through playful observation in their own backyard, users help scientists better understand climate change and its impact on the environment.
