WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN: Make Your Own Nature Journal
MATERIALS:
- old folder or cereal box
- paper
- rubber band
- scissors
- small branch
- hole punch
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. MAKE YOUR JOURNAL
Insert paper into an old folder or cut a cereal box so it is approximately the same size as A4 paper. Place the paper inside the folder. Punch two holes through the folder and paper. The branch should cover both holes. Thread one end of the rubber band through one hole, loop it over the branch, and repeat on the other side.
2. DECORATE YOUR JOURNAL
Don’t forget to write your name and decorate the cover.
3. OBSERVE AND RECORD
Explore plants and animals in your surroundings. Record your observations in your journal: write what you see, where, and when. Draw the plant or animal you observed. If you don’t know the species, your drawing will help you identify it later in a book or online.
