How did modern humans emerge, and what role did Neanderthals play in our evolutionary history?
The Croatian Natural History Museum welcomes Fred H. Smith, a distinguished American paleoanthropologist and one of the world’s leading experts on Neanderthals and modern human origins. Over more than five decades of research, he has focused particularly on Neanderthal fossil remains from Central and Southeastern Europe, including the important Croatian sites of Krapina and Vindija Cave.
In his lecture, “The Origin of Modern Humans,” Fred H. Smith will present key findings about the emergence and spread of modern humans, as well as their encounters and interbreeding with Neanderthals and other archaic human populations.
The lecture will be held in English.
Admission is free, but registration is required due to limited capacity.
