Summer Workshops for Children

This summer, the Croatian Natural History Museum invites primary school children to a series of creative and educational workshops designed to introduce them to the fascinating worlds of fossils, extinct animals, genetics, and natural ecosystems.

Through hands-on activities, exploration, and interactive learning, participants will develop curiosity, observation skills, and a deeper understanding of nature under the guidance of the Museum’s educators.

🦴 Who Is Hiding Behind the Fossil?

How are fossils formed and what can they tell us about life from the distant past? Through engaging activities, participants will explore traces of ancient organisms and discover the work of paleontologists.

🦖 Croatia’s Extinct Giants

Who were the largest creatures that once inhabited the area of present-day Croatia? Children will learn about fascinating prehistoric animals and discover why they disappeared.

🧬 In Search of DNA

Sunday, 23 August 2026 at 11:00 AM

What is DNA and why is it essential for all living organisms? Through simple experiments and models, participants will explore the basics of genetics and inheritance.

🌿 Life in the Grassland

Saturday, 29 August 2026 at 11:00 AM

A grassland is much more than a green field. This workshop takes children on a journey to discover the plants, insects, and other organisms that form one of the most important terrestrial ecosystems.
