Science Festival – workshop “Getting to Know Earth and Its Position in the Solar System”

Venue: Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, Savska cesta 18

This year, the Mineralogical and Petrographic Department of the Croatian Natural History Museum will participate in the Science Festival with the workshop “Getting to Know Earth and Its Position in the Solar System”, intended for younger visitors.

The reason for this is that this year Earth Day, which celebrates its 50th birthday, coincides with the Science Festival.

In an interesting and educational way, we will answer the following questions:

  • What color is it?
  • What shape is it?
  • If we imagine Earth as a sphere located in space, why does what is on the lower side of the sphere not fall off?
  • What is gravitational force?
  • What is gravitational force like on the other planets of the Solar System?
  • Where would we be heavier, and where would we be lighter than on Earth?
  • Should we send overweight people to the Moon and thin people to Jupiter so they would be satisfied with their weight?
  • Do days and years last the same on all planets of the Solar System?
  • Can a day last longer than a year?
  • Can sunrise happen twice in the same day?
  • What are the temperatures like on the surfaces of individual planets in the Solar System?
  • Where is it the hottest?
  • Where is it the coldest?
  • Where is it the most pleasant?
  • How large is Earth?
  • How deep is it to the center of Earth and what is there?
  • How is Earth structured?
