Novi Petruševec museum storage facilities opened

The Head of the City Office for Culture, Milana Vuković Runjić, opened the new museum storage facilities.

The project of the new storage facilities, worth more than 15 million kuna, was fully financed by the City of Zagreb and represents the largest specialised museum storage facility in Croatia.

The storage facilities in Novi Petruševec have been arranged according to current museum standards and adapted to the sensitive material cared for by the Museum; relative humidity, temperature, adequate lighting and protection from dust and pests are only some of the standards of the largest museum storage facility in Croatia.

The Croatian Natural History Museum holds more than 1.4 million objects in its collections.

Since museum activity is one of the areas where savings are systematically made and significant investments are rare, the CNHM Novi Petruševec storage facility represents a major step forward in this respect.

The Croatian Natural History Museum was severely damaged in the earthquake and is currently in the final stage of preparations for relocating its material to the new location, in order to begin the Museum reconstruction project worth 96 million kuna, financed by EU funds and the City of Zagreb.
