Educational trip – Zir – Lika
Approximate trip schedule:
10:00 – gathering at the parking lot of the Zir rest area at the 201st km of the Zagreb-Split motorway (own transport)
10:00 – 10:15 – drive by car to the foot of Zir
10:15 – 13:00 – ascent to the top of Zir with education about plants, animals, rocks and karst relief
13:00 – 14:00 – time for rest and lunch in nature (below the top of Zir)
14:00 – 15:30 – visit to Konjeviča Cave with education about the formation of the cave, speleothems and life in the cave
15:30 – 17:30 – drive by car to the village of Kruškovac and visit to the “Educational Trail of the Lika Landscape and Heritage”
Around 17:30 – departure home
Notes:
For the trip, please bring suitable footwear (hiking boots or sturdier trainers) and layered clothing adapted to the weather forecast. It is recommended to bring rainwear and an umbrella in case of rain.
For the cave visit, it is recommended to bring your own lighting and warmer clothing suitable for the cave temperature of around 6°C.
Food and water for lunch should be brought with you, as there is no mountain lodge or restaurant on the planned trip.
The hiking pace will be easy and adapted to the abilities of the group (children, older people…).
At the very top section of Zir, the trail passes through two very short rocky steep sections, but if necessary, it is possible to bypass them by a slightly easier route.
Transport and food are arranged individually.
For this trip, expert guidance by museum curators is charged 10 kn for children older than 7 years and 30 kn for adults.
