From the Museum into Nature 2021 – Karst phenomena of western Medvednica
Dear nature lovers, the program From the Museum into Nature begins on 15 May with the educational excursion “Karst Phenomena of Western Medvednica”.
We hope that excursions will be held at least once a month, and you will be regularly informed about them around 10 days before each excursion date.
The number of excursions and locations partly depend on program funding, which was completely absent this year, as well as on the epidemiological situation, odnosno restrictions on gatherings.

About the excursion
The main themes of the excursion are karst springs, sinkholes, dolines, pits and Veternica Cave, but we will also study fossil-rich rocks, as well as plant and animal life.
To avoid returning by the same route, the excursion will start from Upper Vrapče and return from Upper Stenjevec. The easiest way to reach Upper Vrapče and leave from Upper Stenjevec is by city bus.
The planned duration of the excursion is from 9:00 to 16:00, or 17:00.
For the excursion, participants should bring suitable footwear, hiking boots or outdoor sneakers, and layered clothing adapted to the weather forecast. It is also recommended to bring clothing in case of rain and an umbrella.
A half-hour lunch break in nature is planned, so participants should bring their own food.
The hiking pace will be easy and adapted to the abilities of the group, including children, older participants and others.
Costs
Expert guidance by the curator is free of charge.
The ticket prices for Veternica Cave, paid directly at the cave entrance to the staff of Medvednica Nature Park, are:
- children: 20.00 HRK
- students and pensioners: 30.00 HRK
- adults: 40.00 HRK
- family ticket, family with children: 100.00 HRK
