eTurtle – an application for reporting sea turtle sightings
eTurtle is a smart device application designed to collect information about sea turtle sightings in nature.
It is currently available for Android OS and can be downloaded from the Play Store.
Sea turtles are globally endangered, and everyone can help protect them. Join our citizen science program, report your sightings and see what others have reported.
Your reports will help us identify threats and areas of interaction with sea turtles, helping us develop better measures for their conservation. With your support, we want to ensure a better and safer future for our sea turtles!
The application is available in Croatian, English, Slovenian, Greek, Italian and Maltese.
An iOS version and a special interactive website will be available in the near future. Login is not required to view reports, locations, photographs and other data, but it is required to submit reports. You can log in easily using your Google or Facebook profile.
The application was developed by the Croatian Natural History Museum in cooperation with the partners of the LIFE Euroturtles project (LIFE15 NAT/HR/000997), co-financed by the EU.
The aim of the project is to improve the conservation status of loggerhead and green turtle populations, priority sea turtle species in the EU.
