Dr. Draško Holcer presented as one of the “European heroes” of Adriatic and Mediterranean sea turtle conservation

Dr. Draško Holcer has been presented as one of the “European heroes” of Adriatic and Mediterranean sea turtle conservation.

The European Commission launched the #EUProtects campaign to showcase activities and projects through which it supports the protection of what matters to us – our health, safety, society and environment.

We are proud that the senior curator of the Croatian Natural History Museum, Dr. Draško Holcer, project leader of LIFE Euroturtles, has been presented as one of the “European heroes” of Adriatic and Mediterranean sea turtle conservation!

“The northern Adriatic is a key feeding area for sea turtles. With the help of the EU, we are finding ways to use LED lighting to reduce bycatch in fishing nets. We want to promote this technology among fishermen together with other conservation measures in the area”, says Dr. Draško Holcer on behalf of the Croatian Natural History Museum – the project coordinator.
