In this interactive workshop, participants will learn how DNA barcoding is used to identify animal species, even from very small tissue samples.

DNA barcoding is an important tool in combating wildlife poaching and the illegal trade of protected species. Through a simulated forensic investigation, participants will take on the role of scientists, analysing a real-life case using laboratory equipment for DNA extraction and genetic database searches.

The workshop offers insight into modern molecular biology techniques and their applications in nature conservation, scientific research, and forensic science.
