Croatian Natural History Museum Day

We invite you to Croatian Natural History Museum Day.

The largest Croatian museum by collection size is celebrating its 31st birthday. On this occasion, the museum will exceptionally be open on Monday, December 18, from 11:00 to 20:00, with a rich program of free guided tours, workshops and lectures.

Program

11:00 – 20:00

Free admission.

All-day projection in the museum atrium: presentation of the project Culture, Science and Education in the Function of Economic Development – the New Croatian Natural History Museum.

11:00 – 13:00 Workshop CSI HPM – Crime in the Chicken Coop.

Discover the exciting world of molecular biology. Using real laboratory equipment, solve the crime in the chicken coop by simulating the DNA barcoding method.

12:00 – 13:30 Birthday guided tour through the mineral and rock collections.

Learn how rocks are formed and discover the most beautiful minerals of the Kišpatić Collection.

15:00 – 16:00 Guided tour through the zoological exhibition.

Find out what the giant shark fed on and how cockroaches move.

16:00 Guided tour through the geological exhibition.

18:00 Presentation of the project The New Croatian Natural History Museum.

Senior curator Dr. Iva Mihoci will present the EU project New CNHM, while the designers from Radionica arhitekture and the designer of the new permanent exhibition, Vanja Ilić, will present the project.

A larger permanent exhibition, a souvenir shop, new laboratories and better equipment are only part of the comprehensive museum renovation, which aims to strengthen its capacities and contribute to the development of tourism, the economy, science, education and culture.
