Conference “Results and Benefits of LIFE Projects” Held

A conference entitled “Results and Benefits of LIFE Projects” was held yesterday in Zagreb, organized at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall by the National Contact Point for the LIFE Programme of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Energy of the Republic of Croatia.

The conference was attended by Ms Renata Brezinščak, museum pedagogue and project education leader, Mr Dario Vuljanko, project financial coordinator, Mr Jure Miočić-Stošić, assistant coordinator, and Dr Draško Holcer, project coordinator from the Croatian Natural History Museum, as well as Ms Mateja Zekan and Dr Peter Mackelworth, representatives of the Blue World Institute, also a project partner.

At the conference, which was attended by more than 160 participants, Mr Jure Miočić-Stošić presented the first consolidated results of the LIFE Euroturtles project achieved after the first half of the project.

Alongside the conference, a project fair was held, presenting fourteen successful LIFE projects being implemented in Croatia.

Our project was presented at the fair by Ms Renata Brezinščak and our project partners from the Blue World Institute from Lošinj.

At the fair, we displayed numerous informational and promotional materials and exchanged information and experiences with participants and visitors.

In the final part of the conference, a panel discussion was held, in which Dr Draško Holcer, coordinator of the LIFE Euroturtles project, participated. He spoke about the advantages of cooperation with partners from several countries, innovative technological solutions for monitoring sea turtles that could also be applied for other purposes, the challenges of managing a project implemented in six European Union countries, and the benefits of financing nature protection and biodiversity activities through the LIFE programme.

The conference was opened by Mr Mario Šiljeg, State Secretary at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Energy, and Mr Patrik Kolar from the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises of the European Union (EASME) also spoke at the opening.
