Hrvatski prirodoslovni muzej
As part of the Days of the Malostonska Oyster, on 19 March 2025 the Hrvatski prirodoslovni muzej hosted the presentation of the exhibition catalogue “Oysters – of Long-Lost Seas” and a specialist lecture titled “Oysters: The Noble Taste of the Sea Through Time, Culture and Science”.
The event gathered numerous enthusiasts of nature, science, and gastronomy, offering insights into the rich history and significance of oysters from multiple perspectives – from their geological past to their contemporary culinary use.
The exhibition catalogue was presented by:
- Prof. Dr. Sc. Tatjana Vlahović, Director of the Hrvatski prirodoslovni muzej
- Dr. Sc. Marija Bošnjak, senior curator
- Prof. Dr. Sc. Jasenka Sremac
A particularly engaging highlight was the lecture by renowned sommelier Mario Meštrović, who guided participants through a unique journey of sea flavours. As an expert with an international A.S.I. Gold Diploma and a certified sake sommelier (SSA London, UK), he shared valuable insights into pairing oysters with various wines and other beverages.
The event concluded in a spirit of inspiration and new knowledge about oysters.
We thank all participants and look forward to future gatherings at the Hrvatski prirodoslovni muzej.
