MarCons Meeting in Zagreb
The Croatian Natural History Museum and the Blue World Institute are organizing the 2nd meeting of the MarCons Management Committee and the 1st meeting of MarCons working groups 1 – 5, on 13 and 14 October 2016 in Zagreb.
More than 50 scientists involved in marine research from 27 European Union countries and neighbouring countries are participating in this important scientific meeting.
Advancing Marine Conservation in European and Contiguous Seas, MarCons, is a four-year COST Action aimed at consolidating a network of scientists and stakeholders involved in marine conservation in European and neighbouring seas.
Through advancing the science of integrated conservation planning, promoting regional coordination and cross-border conservation activities, proposing specific conservation actions while taking into account climate change and biological invasions, and providing support for resolving management issues that can make marine protected areas more effective, the MarCons COST Action aims to bridge the gap between conservation science and policymakers.
In doing so, it seeks to make a significant contribution to addressing the challenge of halting biodiversity loss in European and neighbouring seas by 2020.
More information is available on the MarCons website: http://www.marcons-cost.eu/
The Action is funded by European Cooperation in Science and Technology, COST, an intergovernmental organization that supports cooperation among various nationally funded scientific and technological projects through the creation of collaborative networks.
These networks enable scientists to develop their ideas by sharing them with other researchers, thereby encouraging their research, careers, and innovation.
