WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN: Make a Birdhouse
MATERIALS:
- 2-litre milk or juice carton (Tetra Pak)
- Adhesive tape
- Small branch
- String
- Paintbrush
- Screwdriver
- Popsicle stick
- Brown paint (wood stain, shoe polish, or tempera paint)
- Natural or artificial moss
- Hot glue
INSTRUCTIONS:
The birdhouse is made from a 2-litre carton covered with adhesive tape. With the help of an adult, use a screwdriver to make four small holes in the bottom to provide ventilation for the birds. At the top of the carton, make two holes and thread a piece of string through them so the birdhouse can be hung from a tree.
Cut an entrance hole approximately 3 × 3 cm in size on the front side. Make two additional holes on opposite sides and insert a small branch through them to serve as a perch. Then paint the birdhouse brown.
Once the paint has dried, glue some moss onto the roof and attach a popsicle stick below the entrance. Hang the birdhouse on a tree in a location that is not exposed to direct sunlight and is out of reach of curious pets.
