Dear nature lovers,
We invite you to join us on Saturday, 24 September, for an educational trip to Učka Nature Park, which includes a tour of the educational trail in the Vela draga canyon and the Plas educational trail in the upper part of Mount Učka.
More detailed information about the trip is provided below, together with the autumn schedule of the From the Museum into Nature program.
Registration for the trip is required by email: damir.lackovic@hpm.hr, no later than Thursday, 15 September, at 6:00 p.m.
Trip Plan
- 10:00 — gathering at the parking area above the Vela draga canyon
- 10:00 – 13:00 — tour of the Vela draga canyon
- 13:00 – 14:00 — time for rest and lunch at the Vela draga viewpoint rest area; food and drinks should be brought along
- 14:00 – 18:00 — drive by car to the upper part of Učka, visit to the viewpoint at the summit of Učka, and tour of the Plas educational trail in the upper part of the mountain
- Around 18:00 — optional dinner at Pansion Učka, depending on interest, followed by the return home
The trail in the Vela draga canyon is described as easy, although there are some shorter, steeper rocky sections. The trail in the upper part of Učka is an easy forest hiking trail.
Recommended Equipment
- Hiking clothing
- Footwear — comfortable high or low hiking shoes, or outdoor trainers
- Umbrella and raincoat, or other rainwear, in case of a rainy weather forecast
- Food and water
Access from Zagreb
From Zagreb, take the motorway to Rijeka, then the Rijeka bypass towards Pula. After the Učka tunnel, exit immediately at the Lupoglav and Učka exit. At the first junction, turn left, following the sign for Vela draga. After a few hundred metres, turn left into the parking area of the Vela draga educational trail, which is also the meeting point for the trip.
