International Museum Day
International Museum Day at the Croatian Natural History Museum – Free Admission and Opening of the Exhibition “Mijo Kišpatić – The Modest Visionary”
On the occasion of International Museum Day, celebrated on May 18, 2026, under the theme “Museums Unite a Divided World”, the Croatian Natural History Museum invites visitors of all generations to spend the day exploring natural heritage, science, and engaging museum programmes.
On Monday, May 18, the museum will be open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and admission will be free for all visitors.
Guests will have the opportunity to explore the museum’s permanent exhibition, multimedia installations, and valuable natural history collections that reflect the richness of Croatia’s and the world’s natural heritage.
As part of the International Museum Day programme, the museum will also host the opening of the exhibition “Mijo Kišpatić – The Modest Visionary” at 6:00 PM.
The exhibition is dedicated to the distinguished Croatian naturalist Mijo Kišpatić, a pioneer of Croatian geology, mineralogy, and the popularization of natural sciences.
It presents an overview of Kišpatić’s scientific work and his contribution to the development of Croatian natural history, while also revealing lesser-known details about the life and work of this remarkable scientist.
We warmly invite everyone to join us in celebrating a day dedicated to museums as places of dialogue, knowledge, and community connection.
