The exhibition Towards the New Croatian Natural History Museum – Hidden Collections presents a selection of previously unseen objects from the future permanent exhibition of the Croatian Natural History Museum, while also introducing the comprehensive project Culture, Science and Education in the Service of Economic Development – The New Croatian Natural History Museum.
Visitors are given a unique opportunity to discover part of the Museum’s rich heritage that will become part of the new permanent display, as well as plans for the Museum’s renovation and revitalisation. The project includes the restoration of the historic Amadeo Palace in Zagreb’s Upper Town, the creation of a modern permanent exhibition, interactive presentations, new educational programmes, and an open-air museum located in the Tuškanac Forest Park.
The new Croatian Natural History Museum will serve as an important national and regional centre for culture, science, and education. The project also includes the development of accredited laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art analytical technologies, strengthening cooperation with the scientific community and supporting knowledge transfer through research and educational activities.
Accessibility is a key component of the project, ensuring that the renovated Museum will be fully accessible to visitors with disabilities and reduced mobility. The project will also create new employment opportunities.
With a collection of approximately two million objects and a tradition spanning 170 years, the Croatian Natural History Museum is entering a new era of development, supported by the European Union and the City of Zagreb.
