Exhibition “Cockroaches – The World That Remains”
4 July 2019 – 13 January 2020
Natural History Museum Split, Poljana kneza Trpimira 3
Opening: 4 July 2019 at 8:00 PM
For a moment, let us forget those occasions when the sight of a cockroach disrupted our morning coffee or afternoon relaxation. Let us set aside our assumptions about where they come from, how they live, and what they eat, and instead view them as remarkable organisms shaped by nature through millions of years of evolution.
Cockroaches belong to a group of insects that existed long before humans appeared on Earth. They have survived dramatic environmental changes, endured major natural catastrophes, and successfully adapted to a wide range of habitats. Their resilience and evolutionary success make them one of nature’s most fascinating survival stories.
The exhibition “Cockroaches – The World That Remains” invites visitors to explore the biology, diversity, and extraordinary adaptability of these often misunderstood insects and to discover why their world has persisted for so long—and may continue long into the future.
