This exhibition explores the biology and ecology of bees and bee colonies, highlighting their close relationship with flowering plants and their essential role in maintaining biodiversity. It also presents traditional beekeeping practices from continental Croatia and neighbouring countries.

Scientists believe that bees and flowering plants co-evolved during the Cretaceous period, between 145.5 and 65.5 million years ago. Their contribution to pollination is invaluable, supporting both natural ecosystems and agricultural production. A single bee colony can pollinate up to three million flowers in a single day.

The exhibition features numerous artefacts, bee specimens from the Croatian Natural History Museum’s Hymenoptera Collection, and expertly preserved plant specimens that depend on bee pollination for their survival and reproduction.
