Abstract

The known geographical distribution of the colonial scleractinian coral Cladopsammia rolandi Lacaze-Duthiers, 1897 has been extended with new records from the Adriatic Sea. This Mediterranean endemic scleractinian coral was found in spring 2002 on the cliff at the south of Lastovo Island and in summer 2005 on the two locations at the south-west of Mljet Island (South Adriatic). The new records reported here are the first confirmation of C. rolandi presently living in the Adriatic Sea.

Abstract

The endemic butterfly the Dalmatian Ringlet Proterebia afra dalmata (Godart, [1824]) was found the current distribution at several new sites in the years 2006 and 2007. In this paper we present of this endemic subspecies in Croatia.

Abstract

The species of freshwater Cyclopoida Cyclops bohater Kozminski 1933 was recorded during collection of zooplankton in one of the three ^ingi-Lingi Lakes in August and September 2004. This is the first record for the Croatian fauna and also for the Balkan Peninsula. The ^ingi-Lingi Lake is a gravel pit in the Podravina area of NW Croatia.

Abstract

Adult caddisflies were collected in altered and man-made habitats of the hydro-electric power plant system in the Drava River in spring and autumn 2006. All sampled habitats (reservoir, drainage ditches, tailrace canals and old river channel) are greatly influenced by hydro-technical management. Altogether 24 species were recorded. Five species, Hydroptila sparsa, Hydroptila vectis, Tinodes pallidulus, Mystacides longicornis and Oecetis ochracea are new to the caddisfly fauna of Croatia. For five species, Hydropsyche angustipennis, Hydropsyche contubernalis, Psychomyia pusilla, Ecnomus tenellus and Silo nigricornis adult specimens are recorded for the first time in Croatia. Thus, the current study represents an important contribution to the knowledge of caddisfly fauna of Croatia.

Abstract

The aquatic dance fly fauna on the Cetina River was investigated between May and September 2005 and during March and April 2006. Samples were collected with an aspirator and by hand netting at 8 different locations through the whole stream flow of the Cetina River and at the springs of three tributaries (Sveti Spas spring, spring of Ruda River and spring of Grab River). The purpose of the research was to investigate the diversity of the aquatic dance flies (Diptera, Empididae) and to determine which locality had the greatest species richness. Twenty species of aquatic dance flies from 6 different genera were recorded. Four genera belong to the subfamily Clinocerinae (Clinocera, Dolichocephala, Kowarzia, Wiedemannia) and two genera to the subfamily Hemerodromiinae (Hemerodromia, Chelifera). Radmanove mlinice, near the mouth of the river Cetina into the Adriatic Sea was the most species-rich site.
