The virtual herbarium of the Croatian Museum of Natural History is a database of photographed herbarium specimens from the Herbarium of the higher plants and the Herbarium Trinajstić. Only the inventoried specimens were photographed, and the labels with associated data are also visible in the photographs. The virtual herbarium is regularly supplemented, depending on the processing of new specimens. In this way, access to the Herbarium is enabled for experts and the general public, which additionally protects the stored material from unnecessary exposure to potential physical damage while viewing the collection.

How to search?

Herbarium specimens can be searched by entering a word or part of it in any field in the form, or by selecting the information provided by clicking on "Search". It can be searched by simultaneously querying different fields. None of the fields are case sensitive.

The mark (*) is used as a substitute for any part of the data being searched (eg, to search for all species whose name begins with the letters "Poly", in the "Species Name" field we enter "Poly", or if in the "Location" field we enter *gor* in the result will show all localities that contain "gor" in their name, e.g. Zagrebačka gora, Gornje Jelenje, ...)
